Decograde Concrete Resurfacing resurfaces driveways in Picnic Point, from short suburban drives to longer ones. A driveway takes tyres, oil and rain every day, so it usually shows wear first. Call (02) 9090 4131 for a free look.
Picnic Point driveways and the council strip
Every driveway has two parts: the section inside your boundary and the crossing over the footpath to the kerb. Canterbury-Bankstown Council treats the crossing as public land and has a vehicular footway crossing application for building one. Resurfacing is aimed at the part on your side of the line, and we tell you where the line sits on your block before work begins.
Oil, tyre marks and sun-faded concrete
Oil is the hardest stain because it soaks in and stops a new layer bonding. We lift it first, then deal with old sealer and tyre-polished patches. Shade and tree litter keep some drives damp, so we also check for algae along the edges.

Slope, drainage and the garage door
Steeper drives need grip as much as looks. We choose a finish with some texture and we look at where water runs toward the garage. A drive that holds water at the door will wear out any surface early, and we say so in the estimate.

What the work involves
- Cleaning, stain lifting and removal of old coating.
- Grinding or etching, then crack and edge repair.
- The resurfacing layer in a colour and texture you choose.
- Sealing, with a written time before the car can go back on.
Our driveway resurfacing page explains the process, and the driveway cost guide covers pricing. If cracks are the worry, read can a cracked concrete driveway be resurfaced.
What tyres and weather do to a drive
Hot tyres soften and mark a tired surface, and sun fades colour from the top down. Rain runs across a drive and carries grit that polishes the face, while leaf litter and shade keep the edges damp. By the time a driveway looks bad, the top few millimetres have usually worn out, which is exactly the part a resurfacing layer replaces.

Preparing a drive for a new layer
We pressure clean, lift oil with a degreaser, and remove any old paint or sealer. Then we grind or etch the surface so the new layer can grip, and we repair cracks, joints and chipped edges. Expansion joints stay as joints and are cut through the new surface so the slab can still move. The estimate lists each of these steps so you can compare it with any other quote.
Driveways on a block near the river
A driveway that slopes toward the house or sits low on the block shows water problems first. When we visit we watch where water runs and, if we can, how it behaves after rain. If a drive collects water, we explain whether a resurfaced surface will cope or whether drainage needs attention first. Our driveway guide on resurfacing, paving or replacing sets out the other options.

Answers to common questions
How do I know where my driveway stops and the council part begins?
The crossing between your boundary and the kerb is Council’s responsibility to approve. Your title or survey shows the boundary, and we point out the line on site before we quote.
Will a resurfaced drive stand up to a heavy ute?
A sound slab with a correctly prepared and sealed layer is designed for vehicles. We ask what drives on it, because weight and turning on the spot both change how we prepare it.
Does the colour fade in the sun?
Some fading is normal outdoors. A sealer slows it and keeps stains out, and we tell you when a reseal is likely to be due so it never surprises you.
Can I use the driveway while the work is done?
No, because the surface needs to cure. We plan the days with you so the cars are parked elsewhere, and we give you the time before vehicles can return in writing.
