Decograde Concrete Resurfacing applies spray on concrete resurfacing to worn slabs in Panania and Canterbury-Bankstown. A thin coat is sprayed over cleaned, prepared concrete and finished to a fine, even surface. Ask about it on (02) 9090 4131.
What’s Included
- Inspection of the slab and a decision on whether spray-on suits it.
- Cleaning, then grinding or acid etching.
- Taping and masking of edges, walls and garden beds.
- Crack repair and patching of pitted areas.
- Spray application in your chosen colour.
- Sealer to the manufacturer’s specification.
Where spray-on resurfacing fits
Spray-on suits paths, entries, steps and larger flat areas where you want a clean, uniform look. It is a thin finish. It hides blotchy, dull and pitted surfaces, but it does not hide a slab that has moved. A slab with active cracks will crack its coating too.

Spray-on resurfacing next to ripping out the slab
Every resurfacing job starts the same way but does not end the same way. Three real approaches, compared on the factors that decide whether the result lasts.
| DIY | Unlicensed operator | Licensed & vetted contractor | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface preparation | Often skipped or rushed — the step most likely to be under-done without trade experience | Varies widely; prep is the easiest corner to cut and the hardest to check afterward | Assessed on site before any product is applied |
| Expected lifespan | Depends heavily on DIY prep quality; failures often trace back to prep, not the product | Depends on who you get; no consistent standard | Backed by manufacturer application specifications |
| Insurance protection | None — you carry the risk | Often none, or unclear | Ask about insurance before work begins |
| Licence accountability | Not applicable | Often unverifiable | Checked before joining our network — verify any licence yourself |
| Total cost over time | Lowest upfront, highest redo risk | Can be lowest upfront, but redo cost if prep fails | Higher upfront, priced for a result meant to last |
How We Diagnose Spray-On Suitability
We test the surface first. Is it sound? Is it pitted so deeply that patching is needed? Is there oil in it? Spray-on lays over what is there, so surface faults need correcting beforehand or they will read through the finish. We also check how the slab drains and what the edges look like, since taped edges set the crisp line at the finish.
Steps from masking to sealer
- Prepare the surface by grinding or acid etching.
- Repair and patch.
- Tape and mask.
- Spray the coat, working in even passes.
- Seal and cure to the specification.
Check the manufacturer specification for cure and seal times, as they vary by product system. We hand that schedule over before work begins.

Colour, texture and stencil options
Standard spray-on goes down in one colour with a fine texture. Decorative versions add stencilled patterns or a second tone. Anything decorative takes more time and costs more. If grip matters, say so early, because the texture can be changed.

Edges, steps and the lines you will see
On a spray-on job the edges are what visitors notice first. The line where the coat meets a wall, a garden bed or a step nosing is taped by hand, so a wobbly tape line shows as a wobbly finish. Steps need extra care, because the nosing takes the most wear and the treads need grip.
Where the coat meets a control joint we keep the joint open instead of spraying across it. That stops the coating tearing when the slab moves slightly. Tell us about any step edges that already chip.
Choosing a colour for your path or entry
Match the colour to your bricks, roof and fence line. Lighter stone tones keep a path cooler and show less dust. Darker tones hide stains but show dust and leaves. Look at a sample outdoors in full daylight, not under shop lighting, since colour shifts with the sun.

Looking after a spray-on surface
Once it has cured and been sealed, a spray-on surface needs little. Sweep it, rinse it with a hose and clean spills early. Use a mild detergent and a soft broom on marks, not a stiff wire brush. Keep a pressure washer on a moderate setting and well back, since a close blast can damage a thin coat.
Sealer wears with traffic and weather. How often it needs reapplying depends on the product system, so we pass on the manufacturer’s guidance when the job is done.
Older Panania paths and entries
Panania’s housing boom started in 1946, and many brick homes here still have their original entry paths and steps. After decades of weather, those slabs tend to be dull, stained and pitted but intact, which is the condition spray-on handles well.
Spray-on resurfacing price guide
Standard spray-on, single colour, generally runs $50-$100 per m² in Western Sydney (Inspire Concrete, May 2026). Your area, the prep the slab needs and any pattern work decide where you land inside that band, or above it.

Quick answers
What is spray-on concrete resurfacing?
It is a thin coat sprayed over cleaned and prepared concrete, then sealed. It renews the surface colour and texture of a slab that is sound but worn, stained or pitted.
Will spray-on cover cracks?
Stable hairline cracks are repaired first and then coated. Cracks that keep moving will come through the finish, because the coat is thin and cannot hold a moving slab together.
How long does spray-on take to cure?
Cure and seal times vary by product system, so we confirm the manufacturer’s schedule for your job in the written estimate.
Can spray-on be done in a pattern?
Yes. Stencilled and decorative patterns are available, and they cost more than a plain single-colour finish.
