What resurfacing does for tired concrete
Most slabs that look past saving are still sound underneath. The top layer has flaked, stained or worn smooth, and the cost of ripping it out is far higher than the cost of laying a new surface over it. Concrete resurfacing keeps the slab you have and gives it a new finish.
Decograde Concrete Resurfacing works on driveways, patios, pool surrounds and other outdoor concrete in Panania and the wider Canterbury-Bankstown area. Phone us on (02) 9090 4131 and we will talk through what your slab needs before anyone visits.
How we decide whether a slab can be resurfaced
A new surface only holds if the slab beneath it is stable. Before we recommend a job we look at four things: whether the slab is solid, how wide and how active the cracks are, where water runs and pools, and whether oil, grease or old sealer will stop a new layer bonding.
A slab that has dropped or heaved is a different problem from one that has simply worn. If resurfacing is the wrong answer for your concrete, we will say so.
Ground conditions around Panania
Panania grew after the railway arrived in 1931, and mass-produced housing followed from 1946. Many driveways and paths here are decades old. The area also sits on Wianamatta Group shale, a reactive clay subsoil that swells when wet and shrinks when dry. Slabs on that kind of ground tend to crack, and a crack that keeps moving will show through a new surface unless it is dealt with first.
Those are the reasons we look at cracking and drainage before we talk about finishes.
Where the work goes
Our six services cover the usual outdoor jobs. Each page lists what is included, how the work runs and what to expect on price as a rough guide.
- Driveways, where wear, oil marks and tyre stains show first.
- Patios and entertaining areas that have faded or gone slippery.
- Pool surrounds, where grip matters as much as looks.
- Spray on resurfacing and exposed aggregate finishes for a different look.
How an enquiry works
Call or send the form below. Tell us the suburb, the area you want done and what is wrong with it. Photos help. We reply during our hours: Mon–Fri 7am–5pm, Sat 8am–2pm. A visit and a written estimate follow, and you decide what happens next.
Check any tradesperson before you hire
Whoever you choose, you can confirm a licence yourself with Service NSW: Check a Builder or Tradesperson Licence. Use the Service NSW: Check a Builder or Tradesperson Licence licence check, ask the tradesperson for their licence details and look them up.
