A driveway takes more punishment than any other slab at the house. Decograde Concrete Resurfacing resurfaces driveways in Panania and across Canterbury-Bankstown, giving worn, stained or cracked concrete a new finish without breaking it out. Phone (02) 9090 4131 to talk it through.

What’s Included

  • Inspection of the whole driveway, including the apron and any slope.
  • Pressure cleaning and removal of oil, tyre marks and old sealer.
  • Grinding or acid etching so the new layer bonds.
  • Crack and chip repair.
  • A resurfacing layer with a broom or fine texture for grip.
  • Sealer, and a clear note of when the driveway can take a car.

Driveway resurfacing options for tired concrete

Most driveways here choose between three finishes: a plain spray-on coat in one colour, a decorative stencilled pattern, or a pebble-mix surface for a stone look. Each has different grip, different upkeep and a different price. Resurfacing concrete driveway options are easier to compare once we have seen the slab.

Start with the damage. The finish comes second.

Resurfacing a driveway versus pouring a new one

Every resurfacing job starts the same way but does not end the same way. Three real approaches, compared on the factors that decide whether the result lasts.

How We Diagnose Driveway Damage

We walk the driveway from the garage to the kerb. Cracks are measured and checked for movement. Oil patches under the car are marked, because oil in the substrate changes what will bond. We look at where water runs, since a driveway that sheds water toward the house or pools at the foot of a slope will keep failing.

A sunken or heaved section means the problem is under the slab, and resurfacing will not fix it. In that case we say so.

Our driveway process, step by step

The sequence runs from assessment and cleaning to etching, repair, application and sealing. Cure and seal times vary by product system, so we confirm the manufacturer’s schedule and tell you the day the driveway is ready for cars and the day it is not.

Send a few photos and the length of the driveway, or call (02) 9090 4131 for a free estimate.

The council strip between your kerb and your gate

The section of driveway between the kerb and your front boundary usually sits on council land. Work there can need permission. Canterbury-Bankstown Council handles crossover and footway permits, so check with the council before any work touches that strip. We keep our resurfacing to the part of the slab that is yours unless you tell us otherwise.

Sealing, traffic and keeping the finish clean

Is sealing a concrete driveway worth it? On a resurfaced driveway, yes: the sealer protects the new layer from oil, tyre marks and water. How often it needs reapplying depends on the product, so we pass on the manufacturer’s guidance.

Sweep it, hose it, and wash oil spills off quickly. Avoid harsh acid cleaners on sealed concrete.

Driveway pricing and what moves it

Driveway resurfacing in Sydney is generally $45-$125 per m², one range across finishes (Inspire Concrete, July 2026). The band is wide because the finish you choose, the area, the slope and the condition of the slab all move the figure. A larger sloped driveway with deep oil stains costs more per metre than a flat, clean one. A written estimate after a visit gives you the figure for your slab.

Quick answers

Is sealing a concrete driveway worth it?

On a resurfaced driveway it is. Sealer protects the new layer from oil, tyre marks and water. How often it is reapplied depends on the product system, so follow the manufacturer’s guidance.

Can you pebblecrete over existing concrete?

A pebble-mix finish can go over a sound slab once the surface has been prepared. Pebble-mix resurfacing needs a solid base, so a moving or sunken slab has to be dealt with first. Our exposed aggregate page covers that finish.

How long before I can drive on it?

That depends on the product system, because cure and seal times vary by manufacturer. We give you the date for foot traffic and the date for cars in the written estimate.

Do I need council approval to resurface my driveway?

Work on your own slab usually does not, but the strip between the kerb and your boundary is generally council land and can need a crossover or footway permit. Check with Canterbury-Bankstown Council first.
