Decograde Concrete Resurfacing resurfaces driveways in Bankstown. A driveway takes the most abuse of any slab on the block, from tyres, oil, heat and rain, so it is usually the first to look tired. Call (02) 9090 4131 and we will tell you what yours needs.
Bankstown driveways and the aircraft next door
Bankstown Airport was proclaimed on 7 June 1940 and sits on 313 hectares, which makes the suburb a working place as well as a residential one. Utes, vans and work vehicles wear a drive faster than a family sedan, especially when they turn on the spot. We ask what drives on yours.
Oil, tyre marks and worn patches
Oil soaks into concrete and stops a new layer bonding, so it is lifted first. Tyre polish, old sealer and paint are removed next. Then we grind or etch the surface and repair cracks and chipped edges, so the new layer grips a clean, sound base.
Not sure what is wrong with your drive? Send photos of the worst patches. Call (02) 9090 4131.
The council part of the crossing
The section from your boundary to the kerb is public land. Canterbury-Bankstown Council’s vehicular footway crossing page says its application covers approval to build the driveway outside the lot, and that the owner’s consent is needed. Check with Council before any work reaches past your boundary.

Choosing a finish for a working driveway
A mid-tone textured surface hides tyre marks and gives grip on a slope. Pale smooth finishes show every mark. We show you samples and agree the finish with you, and the estimate names the sealer.
Why we check falls and joints
A drive that holds water at the garage door will wear any surface out early, so we watch where water runs. Control joints are cut through the new layer so the slab can still move, and we explain where they will fall.
See the driveway resurfacing page, the driveway cost guide and our post on resurfacing, paving or replacing a worn driveway.
Not sure which option fits your situation? Call (02) 9090 4131 and talk it through with a contractor.
How long a resurfaced drive stays good
It depends on the slab, the preparation, the product and how the drive is used and cleaned. We do not promise a number of years. We tell you what the manufacturer states for the system we propose, what to avoid, and when a reseal is likely to be due so it never catches you out.
Resurfacing against a new pour
Resurfacing keeps a solid slab and changes its surface, with no demolition and no skip bin. A new pour suits a driveway that has sunk, heaved or cracked right through. When we inspect a Bankstown drive we tell you which side of that line it falls on, and the estimate shows the work in plain steps.
If replacement is the honest answer, we say so, and we do not push resurfacing where it will not last.

What we check on arrival
We walk the drive from the garage to the kerb. We sound it for hollow patches, measure the widest cracks, look at the joints and watch where water runs. We photograph what we find so you can see it too. Then we talk through the options and what each would involve, before you decide anything.
Answers to common questions
Will a resurfaced drive take a loaded work ute?
A sound slab with a correctly prepared and sealed layer is made for vehicles. Tell us the weight and how often it turns on the spot, and we adjust the preparation.
How long before I can park on it?
The product sets the time. We give you the foot-traffic and vehicle times in writing before the job starts.
What if my drive is cracked right across?
A hairline crack is repaired and covered. A wide crack that keeps moving points to the base, and we explain your options, which may include replacement.
Do I need to be home?
Not for the whole job, but we need access to the drive and a way to reach you. We agree access and any gates beforehand.
