Decograde Concrete Resurfacing resurfaces concrete across Bankstown, from driveways and carports to courtyards and paths. Resurfacing lays a new bonded surface over a slab that is still solid, so the slab stays and only its worn face changes. Call (02) 9090 4131 and describe what you have.
Bankstown and its own concrete landmark
Bankstown has a heritage-listed concrete structure of its own. Bankstown Reservoir is a reservoir of reinforced concrete raised on concrete pillars, begun in 1918 and described as the oldest of its kind still in use. It is on the NSW State Heritage Register. We bring the same respect for concrete to a backyard slab: look at what is there, find out why it is failing, and fix the cause.
What we find on older Bankstown slabs
The rail line reached Bankstown in 1909, according to the suburb’s Wikipedia entry, so the area has been built up for a long time. Slabs of many ages sit on one street. Older ones show crazing, worn texture, stains from decades of use and patched repairs. We sound the slab, measure the cracks and note where water pools.
Some need only a surface. A few need their cause fixed first, and we say which before you commit.
Send two or three photos of your Bankstown slab and we will say whether resurfacing suits it. Call (02) 9090 4131.
The steps from clean slab to sealed surface
- Inspect the slab and agree the finish.
- Clean it and remove oil, old sealer and growth.
- Grind or etch to open the surface.
- Repair cracks, chips and edges.
- Apply the layer and texture it.
- Seal, and leave it to cure for the time the product sets.

Signs a slab is ready for a new surface
A good candidate is solid underfoot with damage on the face: flaking, staining, wear that has left the surface rough in patches, or chipped edges. Hairline cracks that have not changed are usually fine once repaired. A slab that has sunk or heaved, or has a crack that keeps opening, is a different problem and we will not coat over it.
Finishes on offer
A spray-on layer in a single colour is the most common route. Stencilled patterns, borders and a pebble-mix finish are also available, and each adds hours to the estimate. Samples help, and we tell you what each choice does to the figure.
For method, see the concrete resurfacing page, and the cost guide for what moves a price.

What a Bankstown estimate includes
We measure the slab and write down what we find: size, condition, cracks, stains, falls and access. The estimate then lists the cleaning, repairs, the resurfacing layer and its texture, the sealer and the cure time. It also says what is not included, so there are no surprises on the day. If we think a different job suits your slab better, the estimate says that too.
Bankstown slabs that suit resurfacing
Carport and garage floors, front paths, side courtyards and backyard slabs are typical candidates. Each has its own wear: carports take oil, paths take foot traffic and leaf stain, and courtyards stay damp in shade. We shape the preparation around that wear, not around a standard routine.
If you are not sure which category yours falls into, send a photo.

Answers to common questions
Is resurfacing worth it on a slab with a few old repairs?
Often yes. Old patches are cut back and re-done properly first, and the new layer then covers the lot. We tell you if a repair has failed underneath.
How is a Bankstown quote different from a quote elsewhere?
The method is the same, but the slab is not. We price what we see on your slab: its size, condition, access and the finish you pick.
Can you work around the weekday traffic and parking on my street?
Yes. Tell us about access and parking when you ring, and we plan deliveries and the crew’s setup around it.
Do you stay on site until the job is finished each day?
We work the day through, then leave the surface protected and tell you what must stay off it and for how long.
Request a Bankstown estimate
Give us the size of the slab and what bothers you about it. We will put an estimate in writing before any work begins.
