Decograde Concrete Resurfacing offers exposed aggregate resurfacing in Picnic Point, a pebble-mix layer over the concrete you already have. It gives a driveway or entry the look of small stones set in cement, with no demolition. Call (02) 9090 4131 to see samples.
A stone finish for Picnic Point’s bush setting
Picnic Point backs onto bushland and reserves, and Georges River National Park lies on a thick bed of Hawkesbury sandstone, according to its Wikipedia entry. Warm sandy and grey-brown stone mixes sit naturally beside that landscape, and they hide leaf stain better than a plain pale surface.
What the layer is and what it costs you in thickness
The pebble mix is thicker than a spray coat and is worked while it is workable, then finished and sealed. That extra thickness adds a little height at edges and thresholds, so we check levels at garage doors and gates before we start.

Picking the stone and its colour
Fine, neutral stone suits a modern house. Larger, mixed stone suits a garden path or a long drive. We bring sample boards, and we ask you to look at them outside in daylight before you choose.

Keeping stone clean near trees
Stone finishes hold dirt, moss and leaf litter in their texture, which matters in a leafy suburb. A regular wash and a reseal when the sheen fades keep it fresh. We tell you how often to expect that.
See the exposed aggregate resurfacing page for the process and the exposed aggregate cost guide for the published price range.
How the stone layer goes on
The slab is cleaned, repaired and primed, then the pebble mix is applied in a layer and finished while it is workable. It is sealed once it has cured. Because the layer is thicker than a spray coat, the work happens in stages and the weather matters, so we pick the days carefully and tell you the schedule.

Weighing stone against spray-on
Exposed aggregate costs more than plain spray-on and gives a textured, stone-look result with good grip. It suits driveways and entries that carry traffic. If budget is the main concern, a spray-on finish with a stencil border can get close to the look for less. We give you both options in writing so you can compare.
Where aggregate works best
Exposed aggregate suits driveways, front entries and pool surrounds where grip matters and where a stone look sits well with the house. It is less suited to a small, shaded courtyard that will hold moss. We tell you honestly whether it fits your slab, and if another finish would serve you better we will say so before you spend more.
Before any aggregate job we show you a sample board and a close-up photo of a finished slab, so you know what the texture looks like in the hand and underfoot. We also explain how the surface is cleaned and resealed, because that routine decides how it looks in five years. If you would like to see a sample first, ask when you ring.

Answers to common questions
Will loose stones come off the surface?
A properly prepared and sealed layer keeps the stones bonded. We tell you what to watch for and how to brush off any stray pebbles in the first weeks.
Is exposed aggregate slippery when wet?
The texture gives good grip in the wet compared with smooth concrete. For pool surrounds we look separately at texture and barefoot comfort.
Can it go over cracked concrete?
Only once the cracks are repaired and the slab is stable. A crack that keeps moving will show through, and we say so before we quote.
How long does an aggregate surface last?
That depends on the slab, the preparation, the sealer and how it is used and cleaned. We do not promise a number. We tell you what the manufacturer says and how to care for it.
